Driver trapped in wrecked car

A TRAPPED driver had to be cut out of his wrecked car after a crash on a motorway sliproad at Warrington early today.
The crash was on the sliproad from the M6 sounthbound to the M62 westbound at Junction 21a at Birchwood at 3am.
Only one vehicle was involved – a car which crashed into a lamp post and ended up on its side on the hardshoulder.
Fire crews from Warrington and Birchwood were called to the scene and firefighters had to cut the roof off the car to free the trapped man.
He had suffered a number of injuries and was taken to Warrington Hospital by ambulance. His condition is not currently known.
A Fire Service spokesman said rescuers had to roll back the roof of the car to extricate the driver.
