Hidden gem to open to public

0

AN open day is to be held at one of Warrington’s hidden gems – for the first time in four years.
Members of the public will have an opportunity to visit Woolston Eyes Nature Reserve on Sunday, June 28 between 10am and 4pm.
Wardens will be on hand to lead guided walks around part of the reserve, pointing out some of the many species of birdlife that can be found there, including rare black-necked Grebes.
For those who would like to see birds close-up, members of the Merseyside bird ringing team will be on site demonstrating their expert knowledge.
There will be many other attractions and exhibitions by experts from across the North West.
These include views of live moths caught at the reserve, exhibited by Graham Cooke, paintings by wildlife artist Colin Woolf, dragonflies exhibited by Trish Thompson and displays by the South Lancashire Bat Group, North Cheshire RSPB, the Amphibian and Reptile Group of South Lancashire, the Cheshire Branch of Butterfly Conservation and the Cheshire Wildlife Trust.
The event is free including parking. Entrance is from the Thelwall Lane end of the reserve, at Latchford Warrington.
There will be parking facilities for people with disabilities but the guided tours may not be suitable for those with limited mobility due to the nature of the terrain and difficulties of access to the hides.
For further information and directions please view the Woolston Eyes website at www.woolstoneyes.co.uk
