Kate takes the title

KATE Dwyer, of Winwick, took the women’s title in the Newton-le-Willows Triathlon.
The 120 competitors took part in a 400m swim, 22km bike ride and 6.8km run on a beautiful sunny day.
Kate completed the course in a time of one hour, 31 minutes and seven seconds, beating her nearest rival, Gill Crennel by just under a minute.
The men’s race was won by Martin Cain, of Manchester, in an overall time of one hour, nine minutes and 24 seconds, beating last year’s champion Alan Copland by nearly two minutes
Prizes, goody bags and other support were provided by sponsors including Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative, TriCentral, Sweatshop, Nokia, RedBull, For Goodness Shakes!, Pure Blue, Sports Tours, Zoggs, and Jointace.
