POLICE have launched an urgent appeal for information after a man suffered “serious injuries” after being attacked by a gang of youths in Sankey Valley Park, Warrington, earlier today (Wednesday).
The attack took place at 4.21pm earlier today ( Wednesday 24 January) when the man was assaulted by a gang of up to six youths in the park area behind Weddell Close.
The youths, who were wearing dark tracksuits, made off on from the scene along the canal path towards the bridge near Ledyard Close – it is believed that some may have been on bikes and others on foot.
As a result of the incident the victim suffered serious injuries and has been taken to Aintree Hospital.
Detective Inspector Helen Banusic said: “The investigation is in its very early stages and police are trying to establish the circumstances. Officers are in the area to provide reassurance to members of the public who use the park and to speak to anyone who may have seen something.
“We are also keen to speak to anyone who was driving in the area of Sankey Valley Park and the roads surrounding it between 2pm and 6pm with dashcam footage to contact us.
“If you are in the area and have information that could assist us with our enquires please contact us, or if you have any concerns speak to one of our local officers.”

The Sankey valley Park is not a safe place, in the night time i cross it on my way to and from work, the illumination is 0, i wonder how there’s no more assaults.
The wonder should be why there are any assaults in the first place? I really hope the chap who was seriously injured makes a full recovery; and that they manage to catch up with, charge and sentence all those responsible for this cowardly attack. And that we don’t have any of their parents telling us what wonderful fellows their little children are.
