GREEN bin licences in Warrington are being snapped up at the rate of 1,000 a day by local residents.
Since going on sale 10 days ago the council has hit the 10,000 mark.
The garden waste collection licences were introduced by Warrington Borough Council n 2017 and 39,552 licences were issued for green bins across the borough. This meant that Warrington residents recycled more than 9,500 tonnes of green waste.
Residents will need to buy a new licence in order to benefit from the first round of collections in March. The service runs fortnightly until November.
People can pay for more than one green bin if they need to. They can also share a bin with neighbour(s) if they don’t produce much garden waste.
