WARRINGTON Council for Voluntary Service has launched a campaign to persuade people to make use of “Gift Aid” when they donate to charity.
Research has revealed that one third of the public do not know about Gift Aid, which allows charities to claim an additional income from the government when it receives a donation from a UK taxpayer.
The CVS is keen to work in partnership with businesses and individuals to get them involved with the community, such as through the Warrington Grassroots Endowment Fund and to help take advantage of Gift Aid.
Every penny that goes into the fund will return a much greater value. For example, a £1,000 donation will receive match funding from the Government and the the charity can also claim Gift Aid making that £1,000 worth £2,560 to the fund.
