Kennels plan to go ahead

PLANNING chiefs have given the go-ahead for new kennels and a cattery building on land off Burford Lane, Lymm after the parish council withdrew objections.
The scheme – which would normally be considered inappropriate in a Green Belt location – was considered acceptable because the new buildings replace existing kennels and cattery and are well screened.
The parish council originally objected on the grounds the new buildings were too large and because of the potential for noise from barking dogs. But its chairman, Coun Sheila Woodyatt supported the application because the new buildings would be an improvement on the old which were falling into disrepair and would result in better conditions for a reduced number of dogs.
The parish council withdrew its objection before the plan was considered by the borough’s development control committee.
Planning officers said there were “very special circumstances” to justify the development in the Green Belt. There was no detrimental impact on neighbours.
