WORK has started on a new £4 million 60-bed care home at Warrington.
The home, which will also incorporate a 20-place day centre, is being constructed on the site of the former Chestnut House at Appleton.
It is expected to open next March and provide up to 80 new jobs.
The facility is being built by construction company G&J Seddon for specialist care provider CareConcepts.
Martin Clark, managing director of CareConcepts, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this contract and intend to work with Warrington Borough Council to enable people to access local care services that meet their needs. This development represents a further step in our aim to deliver quality services in modern purpose build care homes.”
Chris Calow, relationship manager for the for Royal Bank of Scotland Healthcare, which has funded the project, said: “Martin and the rest of his team are experienced operators and have a long record of delivering excellent care facilities. Once opened this new home will enhance the range of care services available to people in Warrington and the surrounding areas.”
Christopher Seddon, chairman of G&J Seddon added: “This is a particularly rewarding project as the resulting facility will help meet an identified need for this type of care, providing much needed beds for those suffering with dementia.”
Coun Brian Axcell, deputy Mayor of Warrington and a member of Appleton Parish Council, said: “There has been a derelict building here for quite some time so it is great to see work progressing on site today.”
