STUDENTS at Warrington joined forces with Home-Start – the charity which helps families with young children – to collect Easter eggs for local children.
Kate Griffiths and Rachel Melhuish from the charity were delighted to visit Priestley College to take delivery of the eggs which they then distributed to deprived areas of the borough.
Home-Start recruits and trains volunteers to work with families undergoing difficulties in life, offering practical and emotional support.
Students studying within the Early Years and Health and Social Care area collected the eggs in a week when they also supported the Marie Curie Daffodil Appeal which raised £130.
Kate Griffiths, the Family Support Co-ordinator from Home-Start, commented, “It is very nice to see young adults doing something special like this.”
Bev Devlin, curriculum manager for Early Years and Health and Social Care at the college said: “Every year I am so proud of my students who so willingly contribute to this very worthwhile cause. Giving these small gifts to the children enables them to extend their understanding of those who may be less fortunate than themselves.”
