Help for victims of hate crime

VICTIMS of hate crime in Warrington can get help thanks to a new service from the borough council.
They can talk in confidence to a specialist advisor at Contact Warrington, the council’s one-stop shop in Horsemarket Street.
A telephone help line has also been set up which individuals can use to make informal, confidential reports to trained members of staff.
The report will then be passed to Cheshire Police who will record the information and, if the victim has requested it, offer further support and advice.
Hate crime can take many forms, including individuals being singled out for physical or verbal abuse because of their race, disability, religion or sexuality.
Contact Warrington is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm The contact line is 01925 443322.
