Council chairman breaks ranks

A COUNCIL chairman has broken ranks with her own council over a plan to renew existing kennels and a cattery.
Lymm Parish Council has lodged objections to the proposal in Burford Lane, Lymm – but chairman Coun Sheila Woodyatt is supporting it.
The council say the scale of the development is too large and the noise from barking dogs will have an adverse effect on the environment.
Coun Woodyatt (pictured) says the plan will result in a big improvement on the existing kennels, with a smaller building and a reduction in the number of dogs, which will be housed in much improved conditions.
Kennels have existing on the site since around 1982. Planning officers say boarding kennels are normally considered inappropriate development in the Green Belt but, in this case, they already exist on the site. There is unlikely to be any noise nuisance, nor increase in traffic.
The application will be considered by Warrington’s development control committee on Wednesday (April 22).
