EXCITING new acts and the return of popular favourites are promised by the organisers of the second Stockton Heath Festival.
Following its inaugural success the event is back for a second year from July 9 to 12.
The program includes the Chinese Pagoda Youth Orchestra, an Open Air Cinema on a massive screen, an evening with the Warrington Male Voice Choir at St Thomas’ Church and an adaptation of Richard III by touring theatre group Odd Socks.
There is also a Frog and Bucket Comedy Night, Cody’s and Friends will perform at Bridgewater High School and there is music from a Cuban band Salsa Pa Gozar.
Other events include a big band night, an acapella concert, music from local bands and a puppet show. There is also an art exhibition, floral workshops, a local history talk, gardeners’ question time and canal boat trips.
There will be a range of other events including a scarecrow display and teddy bear hunt, and a farmers’ market. Stockton Heath Walking Day takes place on the Saturday of the festival weekend.
The main venue for the festival will be three giant Hat Katas – ultra green, carbon neutral, Tepee tents of Scandinavian origin.
The festival has a variety of sponsors including the voluntary sector, Stockton Heath and Appleton Parish Councils, local businesses and organisations. Anyone interested in supporting the event should contact [email protected]
Four weeks before the festival, on Thursday June 11, a festival fundraising evening of fashion and beauty is being held at The Park Royal Hotel, Stretton. Tickets, priced £10, will be on sale soon from local shops.
Festival organisers are also looking for volunteers to help with a range of roles including working behind the scenes, working in the box office and information tent, setting out seating, staffing the doors and helping with the arts and farmers markets.
Anyone interested in helping should contact Mal at [email protected]
Event tickets will be on sale about a month before the festival from its box office and the Pyramid Parr Hall box office, in person or over the phone. Further information is available from the website www.stocktonheathfestival.co.uk
