LEADER of the Liberal Democrats Nick Clegg has added his support to the campaign against a Titan prison on the Omega Business Park in Warrington. He is supporting Warrington South Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Coun Jo Crotty in her bid to stop the prison, and discussed the campaign with her and other local councillors when he visited the proposed site.
Mr Clegg said: “All the evidence has shown, time and time again, that Titan prisons simply do not work. They do nothing to improve rates of re-offending amongst prisoners.”
Coun Crotty recently gained support when her motion to scrap the building plans was adopted by delegates at the Lib Dem’s spring conference as official party policy.
Mr Clegg said: “It is also clear that this site – the Omega Business Park – is going to suffer as a high-tech business area if a prison is built here. It is only common sense that businesses will not be eager to move in next to one of Labour’s Titan prisons.”
Coun Crotty said: “Titan prisons don’t cut crime or solve the causes of it, which is why I don’t just oppose one in Warrington – I don’t want them being built anywhere in Britain.”

It looks like the “Get Crotty the MP’s Job” bandwagon knows no bounds!!
This is a Bewsey councillor who lives in Birmingham, spends more time banging on about wider town matters and is after the lucrative MP’s salary and expenses job and is using Bewsey as a springboard to riches…
