Still time to join Enfield Park consultation – but only just!

CAMPAIGNERS working to get a Warrington park refurbished are urging people who use it to take part in a consultation exercise.
Deadline for completing the online consultation of Enfield Park at Cinnamon Brow is this coming Friday, October 27.
The Friends of Enfield Park who have been campaigning for improvement work for years are asking users to make commends and suggestions by visiting www.warrington.gov.uk/consultation
Spokesman Geoff Settle said: “Local residents and groups have been campaigning for many years for work to be done in Enfield Park, especially to the play areas.
“We are very pleased that at long last the poor condition of Enfield Park has been recognised by Cllr Tony Higgins, the borough council’s lead member for leisure and community.
“He has authorised a bid to be submitted on behalf of the council. An important part of the bid process is to show that consultation has been done because it adds weight to the application for funding. The more people who log on and have their say the better.”
The council is proposing one of two options:
1. Refurbishment of the existing play area to provide a new facility for mixed age children to play together. Equipment would be provided for children aged 0–13 years old.
2. Refurbishment of the existing play area to create two play zones – one for children aged 0–8 and one for children aged 0–13 years old.
Woodland thinning work would be carried out to provide clear views into the play and ball court areas from existing paths.
The single basketball hoop would be removed, ball court line and goal ends would be re-painted, minor tarmac patch repairs would be carried out if necessary.
Ground graphics around the ball court area would provide a cycle, scoot and skate trail for children learning to ride.
Surfacing to access points into the play area and ball court from existing tarmac paths would be improved and there would be an extended goal back board to include cricket wickets and a basket-ball hoop if funds allowed.
Mr Settle concluded: “We urge anyone who hasn’t completed the online survey to bear in mind the closing date is this Friday.
“I have been out delivering leaflets and it’s great to hear first-hand that so many people have already taken part in the survey. But we need more to be sure.
“I have also set up a ‘Friends of Enfield Park, Cinnamon Brow’ Facebook page so that people can contribute now and going forward so please ‘like it’ and let us know what you think.”

  1. Thanks David much appreciated there hasn’t been much change in the park for over 30 years here and at Parkfields Park and Longbarn. We are grateful that we have been able to work with the Rangers to do some hedge trimming in all three but limited to the odd day or so. These are lovely little spaces and this consultation has been a long time in waiting but we still have a long way to go and needs to grow the Friends network..
