TWO specialist carers from Belong Care Village in Warrington have been shortlisted in the prestigious Great North West Care Awards, which aim to pay tribute to individuals who have demonstrated excellence within the care sector.
Cath Donlan and Sian Ryland, whose achievements include creating exercise programmes at the care village on Loushers Lane, Warrington, are amongst 12 nominations achieved across the region by staff of the care village operator.
Cath, 50, of Warrington, has been the Warrington village’s lead nurse since it opened in 2014. Cath has been shortlisted for ‘The Good Nurse Award’ due to her drive to raise the standard of support offered to residents and identify new training opportunities. She is currently on course to become a MacMillan ‘Cancer Champion’ and has applied her training to help support village residents that are living with the illness.
Her colleague, Fitness Instructor, Sian, aged 26, from St. Helens, is shortlisted for the ‘Care Innovator Award’ as she has developed Belong Warrington’s exercise service to improve the wellbeing of residents and people in the wider community. She creates personalised fitness programmes, including innovative uses of the village’s ‘Silverfit’ virtual reality exercise equipment.
Belong Warrington General Manager, Janine Curwell, said: “We are delighted that both Sian and Cath’s hard work has been recognised by being shortlisted for Great North West Care Awards. They are vital members of the Warrington team and work tirelessly to improve the lives of our customers. I wish them the very best of luck in the final stage of this competition!”
The regional award winners will be announced at a Gala Evening on 3rd November 2017.
