A MOTORIST was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a car plunged off the road near Warrington, careered into a field and burst into flames.
The crash – which apparently involved one vehicle only – was in Clay Lane, Burtonwood last night (Wednesday).
Emergency services were on the scene quickly and the driver was taken to Warrington Hospital by ambulance.
The car, which had overturned after leaving the road, was completely destroyed despite the efforts of firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.
A Fire Service spokesman said: “The car ended up on its roof, about 20 yards from the road.”
It is believed the vehicle left the road after the driver lost control on a bend.
