Would-be pilots take to the skies

TWO self confessed adrenaline junkies from Warrington will realise a long term ambition this summer after being invited to join a gliding scholarship with the Royal Navy.
James Imrie and Richard Millar, both just 16, are in their first year of study at Priestley College and will travel to Cornwall and Yeovil respectively to complete a one week residential programme.
The scholarships will just be the start of things for the pair who have the ultimate ambition to become fighter pilots.
James said: “I’ve been interested in flying as a career since I was at school and have really been completing my studies up to this point in order for me to reach that goal.
“When the letter arrived from the Royal Navy I was really thrilled and have struggled to contain my excitement since then. I’m really focussed on this and can’t wait for the summer.”
Richard: “My long term ambition is to pilot the Euro Fighter, so the gliding scholarship is the first step towards that aim. I’m currently studying subjects such as Aviation Law and Meteorology and after completing my college studies, I plan to apply for the Navy or RAF.”
