A NEW document, aimed at getting more Warrington people more interested in reading, is being launched today (Wednesday).
Last year people from the town joined book lovers throughout the country to celebrate the National Year
of Reading. An interactive programme of activities was held for people of all ages.
Following this the Reading for Life document is being launched today to highlight resources providing reading support for people of all ages and backgrounds in Warrington.
These include free access to books and reading through the network of libraries, as well as audio and IT facilities.
Coun Roy Smith, the borough council’s executive member for community services, said: “I am extremely pleased that our local libraries are building on the success of the year of reading because reading connects people, it fosters good communication and helps people learn whilst stimulating creativity and imagination which can only be a good thing.”
A newly created Reading for Life steering group aims to ensure that the support offered for reading continues to grow and develop. Anyone interested in downloading the document should see www.wgfl.org.uk
