CCTV system to become permanent

CULCHETH’S CCTV camera system, which covers most of the village centre, looks set to become a permanent feature.
Parish councillors have agreed to keep the camera, which is mounted on the Barclay’s Bank building in Lodge Drive, for three years at an annual cost of £3,500.
After that the system will become the property of the council and annual maintenance costs will be £1,000.
The system was installed late last year and for a three-month trial period has been paid for by the police.
It is linked to a monitoring system at Risley Police Station.
Under the deal, the council will be able to move the system up to four times a year if it is felt it would be more useful in a different location.
Police say the system provides them with high quality, pin-sharp images.
