EDUCATIONAL achievements by young people will be celebrated at Warrington’s Peace Centre tonight (Thursday) at 7pm.
The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation will honour those who have taken part in its programmes. They will receive Certificates of Achievement from foundation chairman, Colin Parry.
Guests will include The Mayor and Mayoress of Warrington Coun Brian Axcell and Mrs Irina Axcell.
Programmes are accredited by the Open College Network and include units on Leadership Development, Promoting Positive Behaviour, Developing Effective Communication Skills and Confidence and Self Awareness.
The programmes have been researched and written by the foundation and aim to raise standards in school achievement, improve community relationships, overcome barriers to exclusion and enhance employability skills. So far more than 20,000 young people have taken part.
Programme leader Kelly Simcock said: “We were particularly delighted to receive funding from the Learning and Skills Council to work with young people from Warrington this year. Although we are working in many other areas across England, we very much want to make a difference in our home town.
“These young people have worked hard to achieve their certificates and they are a great example of how young people can achieve positive outcomes. This evening is an opportunity for their friends and family to celebrate their success”.
