Citizen's panel goes local

VOLUNTEERS are needed for Warrington’s Citizen’s Panel – and now membership offers residents and opportunity to have a say on issues really close to home.
The panel – originally known as The Warrington Thousand – consists of up to 1,000 local people who act as a sounding board for the borough council.
They come from all areas of the borough and all walks of life. They have one thing in common – they want to get involved and contribute to the running of the town.
In the past, members have mainly been asked for their views on borough-wide issues. But now four neighbourhood panels are planned.
Coun Liz Smith, (pictured) the borough council’s executive member for neighbourhoods and communities said: “This year we are creating four new neighbourhood panels so residents can have their say on issues close to home as well as across the borough.
“Joining the citizens’ panel is a fantastic opportunity to let us know what it’s like in your area, what we’re doing well and how you think we can improve the service we offer.”
Residents can join by filling in an online form at www.warrington.gov.uk/consultation/ or by calling 01925 443434 to request an application form or to find out more.
Closing date for applications is Friday March 20.
