Lorry targeted by arsonists

ARSONISTS are believed to be responsible for a fire which almost completely destroyed a commercial vehicle near Warrington during the night.
The small, flat-bed lorry was found blazing in Old Alder Lane, Burtonwood and was wrecked before fire crews could reach the scene.
A Fire Service spokesman said: “We strongly suspect this fire was caused by deliberate ignition.”
Firefighters used a hosereel to extinguish the blaze and had to wear breathing apparatus because of dense smoke.
It is believed the vehicle was abandoned in the lane after being stolen and was set alight by the thieves who then fled the scene – probably in another vehicle.
