ACTIVE Cheshire celebrated the amazing women of Cheshire and Warrington with a celebratory lunch, five years to the day from the London 2012 opening ceremony.

The lunch on July 27, was hosted to celebrate all the nominees from the #Pass On Your Passion campaign, launched earlier in June 2017 celebrating women across the North West.

Cranage Hall, Cheshire played host to over 120 guests from across the sub region, celebrating the fantastic work being delivered locally to help keep the residents of Cheshire moving. Nominees were invited to attend the VIP event, alongside the person who nominated them, where they were treated to an exquisite 2 course lunch. The nominees were all given a personal ‘Thank you’ from those who nominated them and were encouraged to share their experiences and journeys.

Active Cheshire were joined by many dignitaries including Fiona Bruce MP, The High Sheriff of Cheshire, Sarah Callander-Beckett, Deputy Mayor, Suzie Akers-Smith, Local councillors and Trustees from Active Cheshire.

Active Cheshire received more than 80 nominations from friends, family, work colleagues, participants, coaches and volunteers all wanting to say thank you to that special female who helps them to get active. The campaign has been a huge success and has really highlighted how important all forms of movement can be in ensuring that individuals can get active at a time and location most suited to them.

Anne Boyd, CEO at Active Cheshire said: “Women play a big role in influencing those around them whether that be at home, work or within their social lives, yet within the Sport and Physical Activity sector they are still largely underrepresented. We have some amazing women who work extremely hard every day to support others to become more active. Simply, we wanted to recognise and reward them for the dedication and commitment, whilst supporting and guiding them to continue to share their passion”

The #Pass On Your passion giant baton and campaign has toured the whole of the North of England and Active Cheshire are honored to have been the final leg… saving the best until last!
