Pensioners' dance was interrupted

LINE Dancing was interrupted for scores of pensioners when there was a fire alert at Warrington’s Ryfields retirement village.
Fire crews were called to the complex after a smell of burning was reported.
Line dancing was in full swing at the time and the dancers had to be evacuated from the hall while firefighters searched for the source of the smell. In the end no fire was discovered and the smell was put down to a problem with the air conditioning.
Dancing resumed after a break of about 20 minutes.
Early today, fire crews were called out to deal with a car fire in Marron Avenue, Longford.
The parked vehicle was ablaze at the front end but firefighters managed to extinguish the flames before the car was completely engulfed. Arson is suspected.
