EDUCATION professionals are invited to a workshop at Warrington later this month, which looks at improving the health and wellbeing of young people.

The Healthy Futures Network Wellbeing Workshop will take place on Wednesday, June 28 with a session from 1pm to 3pm and a twilight session from 4pm to 6pm at the Warrington Campus of the University of Chester.

The event is an opportunity for head teachers, teachers and other staff from within primary, secondary and special education to hear about projects, programmes and interventions known to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for students across schools across the North West.

The Healthy Futures project looks to improve the health and wellbeing of pupils at a selection of schools across the North West has been developed by the University of Chester and Health Education England.

Partners include eight founder schools from the North West, the Youth Sports Trust and the Schools and Students Health Education Unit (SHEU).

The project, which has grown from an informal schools’ collaborative established in 2014, is helping to develop targeted interventions in schools, benefitting thousands of young people across the region.

Changes have focused on physical activity, nutrition, sexual health, employability and life skills, fitness and physical health, mental health, bullying, drugs and alcohol and a range of other issues. The partner schools meet each term to share successes, challenges and to address key issues.

Throughout the afternoon, delegates will attend a series of network tables, facilitated by a leading practitioner from within a current, successful and evidence-based project.
