POLICE are investigating after arsonists set fire to plant machinery left overnight in a Warrington park.
A mini roller and a mini digger were completely destroyed in the blaze in Sankey Valley Park.
Fire crews were called to the scene in the early hours of this morning and found both machines well alight.
They were being used in connection with the resurfacing of footpaths in the park and had been left close to Longshaw Street, Dallam.
Firefighters had to use a main jet to reach the scene, more than 100 yards from the nearest road.
A spokesman said: “There was evidence that an attempt had been made to steal the mini roller prior to it being set alight.
“Both machines were completely burnt out.”
