SHOPPERS will be encouraged to “go bananas” at Warrington on Saturday, March 7.
The Warrington Fairtrade Borough campaign group wants people to munch their way through hundreds of Fairtrade bananas as part of an attempt to break the world record for the largest number of bananas eater during a 24-hour period.
The record breaking attempt will take place at the Old Fish Market in Golden Square from 10.30 to 11.30am.
A steel band will play and more entertainment will be provided by human bananas and a gorilla interacting with the crowds.
At 11.30am everyone will join in the dramatic countdown to the mass eating moment! This will be the culmination of a variety of events organized by Warrington’s many Fairtrade supporters in venues all over the town during Fairtrade Fortnight – February 23 to March 8.
