Wolves bare their teeth!

WARRINGTON Wolves have set up a partnership with a local dental practice to provide their scholarship players with gum shields free of charge.
Wolves HR manager Lynn Bates came up with the idea, recognising the risks of playing Rugby League at the highest level and arranged the partnership with Woolston Dental Centre to improve the welfare of the club’s 48 scholarship players.
The scholarship players visited the practice to have dental moulds taken of their mouths so the gum shields could be made to measure to each player individually.
Practice manager Marie Highton had nothing but praise for the youngsters.
She said: “The players were a pleasure to work with and the practice were very proud to be supporting the club”.
Wolves’ U16 Coach and 1st team player Paul Wood was highly impressed with the standard of work and the quality of the gum shields.
He said: “The work the practice have done for the scholarship players has been fantastic. A good gum shield is an essential piece of equipment for anyone playing our sport”.
Ben Lazenby, player performance manager added: “This partnership couldn’t have come at a better time. Not only can we look after the safety of our players but we can also bite a large chunk of money out of the amount that parents have to pay to support their children. Gum shields are essential for Rugby League as they protect not only the teeth and gums but also protect against concussions”.
