Snowdrop gardens open to public

TWO gardeners are to open their gardens to enable visitors to see their contrasting displays of snowdrops.
Delia Caswell, of Lea Hurst, Hurst Mill Lane, Glazebury, Warrington, has a huge number of snowdrops and her near neighbour, John Bent, of Bent’s Garden Centre, has several special varieties, including very large and yellow snowdrops.
In addition hellebores and some early crocus plants will be in evidence.
For the next three Sundays (February 15, 22 and March 1) both gardens will be open between 12.30pm and 4.30pm, whatever the weather.
There will be ample free parking at Bents’ Garden Centre and, after seeing Mr Bent’s garden, visitors are asked to take the short walk to Mrs Caswell’s house where tea and hot crumpets will be on sale.
Disabled badge holders will be welcome to drive down Hurst Mill Lane and park within the grounds.
There is no admission charge at either garden but donations put in the collection boxes will go to Phakamisa, the chosen charity of Glazebury Methodist Church, which helps impoverished communities and orphans of AIDS in South Africa.
Further information can be obtained from Delia Caswell on 01942 671938.
