Travellers vacate Poole Park site

TRAVELLERS have vacated the Poole Park site off Winwick Road, Warrington, after spending just over one day on the land.

Nearly 20 caravans and associated vehicles arrived on the parkland opposite the Junction Nine Retail Park on Saturday afternoon.

But after being approached by the authorities they vacated the site last night (Sunday).

Local councillor Mike Hannon, who said his phone was “red hot” with complaints when the encampment arrived, says it is a “miracle” the park has not been used in the past.

He will now be campaigning for bollards to be put around the park to prevent travellers using it again.
