Film-maker Chris returns to his roots

FIVE years after leaving college, former Warrington student Chris Boyd returned to his roots to give an insight into the industry in which he now works.
Chris left Priestley College in 2003 after completing a Foundation Diploma in Art and a Multimedia course.
He then tackled a degree in Interactive Art at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Now he owns and runs a successful business which in the recent past has seen him produce commercial music videos for the likes of The Music.
Visual artist and film-maker Chris has enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence.
He first hit the headlines with an appearance on Channel 5’s Big Art Challenge where he subsequently landed the £10,000 top prize and received critical acclaim from Brian Sewell who branded him “a genius”.
Since then his work has been commissioned by a number of big organisations including the Tate Britain, Creamfields and Liverpool Capital of Culture.
Chris, 24, said: “It was nice to come back home for a short period having done so much travelling recently – Priestley has changed dramatically since I was last here and it was interesting to meet current students who are now taking the courses I once did.”
Assistant Curriculum Manager for Art and Design, Paul McConnell, said: “Chris was the latest of our guest speakers to come into college and give an insight into their career to our students. He has achieved much in such a short space of time and left them in no doubt about what can be gained with hard work.”
