Serious assault in alleyway

POLICE have issued an appeal for witnesses following a serious assault which took place in an alleyway at Warrington.
The victim, a 34-year-old man, was attacked by a number of offenders in the early hours of Sunday, May 1 in the alleyway between Algernon Street and Hulme Street.
He suffered multiple injuries and was taken to hospital in Liverpool. The offenders fled the scene afterwards.

Investigating Officer DC Maggie Cassidy said: “This was a serious assault and we are keen to trace the people responsible so they can be brought to justice. The victim has suffered possible life-changing injuries and has been left extremely shaken.

“We are currently following a number of lines of enquiry and as part of the investigation I’m keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and believes that they may have witnessed anything suspicious.”
