PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the go-ahead for a stables block on Green Belt land – at the fourth time of asking.
Members of the borough’s development control committee approved the scheme in Heath Lane, Croft.
Similar plans had been put forward three times previously over the last four years.
Each time they had been refused – and each time the applicant had appealed and lost.
But despite continued opposition from Croft Parish Council and a nearby resident, the committee decided the new proposal – which had been reduced in size – could go ahead.
The proposals involves a building for stabling of horses and storage of hay and the use of land for outdoor recreation.
The parish council argued that the site was within the Green Belt and the development would result in a dangerous egress onto Heath Lane.
But planning officers said the building would be inconspicuous because it would be built next to an existing outbuilding.
They said there would be no damage to the openness, character or appearance of the Green Belt.
