WARRINGTON people are being invited to join in a record-breaking attempt for the “Largest Non-Uniform event” held in one day.
It takes place on March 27 and schools, companies and organisations in the region are taking part.
Those
joining in pay £1 and money goes to The Claire House Children’s Hospice at Bebbington, Wirrall, which offers care to children from the Warrington area.
Organisers say a range of events are being held to support the day such as going to work in school uniform, or wearing a school tie and paying £1 for the privilege.
The event is part of the hospice’s 10th anniversary celebrations, and anyone interested in helping should email the name of their organisation and a contact number to [email protected].
Support for the “Ditch the Uniform” event has come from a surprise backer – Jamie Burdekin, who was a bronze medal winner in the tennis doubles at the Beijing Paralympic Games.
He calls on people to: “pull together to make this fundraising event the success it deserves to be.”
Staff at Claire House hope to put the event forward as a national children’s hospice event.
