Injured singer cancels concert

AN accident to a singer has forced a change of plan for a concert being held in Warrington tomorrow (Thursday).
Soprano Emma Kirkby broke her ankle at the weekend – but the Live at St Wilfrid’s concert at Grappenhall will go ahead with another singer.
Pianist James Lisney has managed to secure the services of Lorna Anderson as a replacement.
Lorna, a well-established soprano, has an international performing and recording career performing with major orchestras and festivals throughout Europe.
James will be playing Beethoven and Debussy solo piano works and Lorna will sing much of the same programme that Emma would have done.
A spokesman for the organisers said: “While we will all be disappointed at not hearing Emma Kirkby, we feel certain that we are still able to look forward to an excellent concert.”
