PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the go-ahead for additional anti-ram raid bollards outside a bank which has been raider several times.
The three extra bollards will match existing ones outside Barclay’s Bank in Lodge Drive, Culcheth.
Last October four men armed with hand guns rammed a car into a side wall at the bank.
They failed to break through and fled empty-handed after taking a van from a nearby butcher’s shop after threatening staff.
The van was abandoned nearby and the gang fled in another car.
Since then CCTV cameras have been installed outside the bank – and now its defences are being strengthened still further with the security bollards.
