A chance to become a “Green Angel”

WARRINGTON-based charity the Land Trust is bringing its award-winning and free environmental training courses to the borough.
The Green Angels programme includes a range of courses, covering topics such as gardening and horticulture, environmental education, countryside management and hard landscaping skills.
They last an average of six weeks and will be held at the Land Trust’s parks and open spaces across the town.
Open to anyone over the age of 18, the free courses are specially designed to not only help trainees develop new skills, but also encourage better awareness of the natural world and provide inspiration for further training or employment opportunities.
Carolyn Hassall, Green Angels project manager, said: “The Green Angels programme is unique to the Land Trust and is a key part of our commitment towards encouraging use of public open spaces, providing educational opportunities and supporting local economies.
“As well as learning new skills and gaining a Green Angels certificate, trainees can meet new people, enjoy team work and feel the benefits of being more active and achieving something really positive. There are benefits to the wider community too, through working with local schools and the enhancement of local open spaces for all to enjoy.”
Previous Green Angels trainees who attended Land Trust programmes in Liverpool and Chester have gone on to find employment, develop new careers and undertake further, more formal, training.
New Green Angels courses are starting soon in the Warrington area, and applications are open now.
