RESIDENTS were evacuated from a house at Warrington last night after serious fire broke out in a double garage.
Three fire engines from Warrington, Stockton Heath and Penketh were sent to the blaze in St Asaph Drive, Westbrook.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to bring the blaze under control. A ventilation unit was also used to clear smoke from the property.
The garage was between two houses, both of which were unoccupied at the time. But crews thoroughly inspected both properties for fire and smoke spread.
The occupiers of a third house nearby were evacuated as a precaution.
There were no reports of casualties.
In a separate incident, shortly after 6am today, firefighters from Warrington were sent to deal with a wheelie bin fire in School Brow. A hose reel jet was used to extinguish the fire which is believed to have been started deliberately.
