Bogus official steals from pensioner

POLICE today issued a warning about bogus officials operating in the Warrington area.
At 2pm today, a man called at a house in High Legh Road, Lymm and gained entry to an elderly woman’s home by claiming to be an official from the “water board.”
He managed to distract her attention and stole property from the house before leaving.
The woman was unhurt but was badly shaken when she discovered what had happened.
Police said householders should always asked to see some form of identification when anyone called at a house purporting to be from a utility company.
A spokesman said: “People should be aware that there is no such thing as the water board.”
