The Warrington Group of Masonic Lodges has made a £100 donation to an appeal which has been launched to help a five-year-old boy with a rare and incurable form of cancer.
The Adam Sandells Appeal hopes to raise £250,000 in case Adam needs to undergo pioneering treatment in America.
If NHS treatment he is receiving at the moment halts the cancer the money will then go to The 2Simple Trust to help other youngsters with the same problem.
Many fund-raising events have already taken place and on December 28 Adam and his brother Michael were mascots at the Warrington Wolves game against Wigan. Supporters did a bag-packing session at Morrison’s, Stockton Heath and a sponsored walk from St Helens RLFC ground to the Halliwell Jones Stadium will take place in April.
At the beginning of May 2007 Adam, (pictured) who lives with his parents Christine and John Sandells in Newton-le-Willows was diagnosed with the rare childhood cancer Neuroblastoma. He had a tumour in his stomach. The disease had spread over a third of his skull and also to his bone marrow.
Since then he has undergone surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy which is still ongoing and it is only if this treatment is not proving successful that plans could swing into action to Adam to receive treatment in America.
The organisers of the appeal to raise money for Adam have a special webpage where details can be found of how to donate to the appeal www.adamsandellsappeal.com
