Another victory for Common Sense litter pickers

A group of five local residents again secured a victory for common sense, after giving up an hour of their time picking up more litter along the gateway into Warrington on Winwick Road.

The group are now planning to do a fortnightly litter pick with the next on Saturday, February 11th at 9.30am, meeting by the Decathlon store near to Orford Park along Winwick Road.

The Litter picks have been organised by local resident Dan Warren with litter pickers, bags and gloves supplied by Warrington Borough council.

Around an hour was spent on both sides of the A49 alongside the Decathlon store, with 10 bags of rubbish being collected. Even a spot of rain failed to dampen spirits.

One of the volunteers, Ivan Baracskai contacted the Orford Park Hub for a space to store the bags to await collection;

Ivan said “Thanks to Livewire and Paul O’Loughlin for letting us use the bin sheds, and for making us a much appreciated brew.”

Dan added: “The message is getting out there, as we have had offers of help in the future, and we will be looking to tackle other litter eyesores across the borough”.

Meanwhile The Common Sense Party Warrington Facebook page has gained over 250 likes in the first two weeks, and continues to grow.
