Late night takeaway rejected

PLANNING bosses threw out a proposal that a Culcheth hot food takeaway shop be allowed to stay open later – before the premises had even opened.
Members of the borough council’s development control committee turned down an application from the takeaway in Common Lane because they feared it would add to existing noise, parking and litter problems in the area.
Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council had lodged strong objections to the application, which would have resulted in the shop staying open until 2am on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and 1am other days.
The committee was told the owner wished to bring his opening hours in line with those at the adjoining wine bar.
Officers had recommended the application be approved – but the committee decided the shop should be allowed to stay open only until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and 11.30pm other nights.
