Broken down lorry on M6 causes traffic chaos in Warrington

1

A broken down lorry on the M6 at Haydock triggered traffic chaos across Warrington during this evening’s rush-hour.

Two lanes of the M6 Northbound carriageway between junction 22 at Newton-le-Willows and junction 23 at Haydock were closed while recovery works took place.

As a result congestion built up to junction 19 at Knutsford creating traffic problems on Winwick Road and Knutsford Road, leading to gridlock around the town centre.

Many motorists were left frustrated, taking up to an hour to cross town.

  1. So that’s why there was nose to tail traffic down Chester Road towards town centre at tea time. It’s always the same when there’s an accident on any of the motorways…TOTAL GRIDLOCK and a complete pain in the a**e !!
I was going to go late night xmas shopping but gave up and came home, saved me some money though. Same happened when I was going to go last week too and even if you do get into town parking is a nightmare with the market multi store gone, bridge foot car park now home to a fair and the golden square car park with queues to go in and come out. Of course there is always the Cockhedge car park but that’s really expensive once you go over 2 free hours. I will just tell family that they have no pressies this year cos Warrington is crap !
Yes I have my Bah Humbug head on tonight ha ha
