POLICE arrested six men after a series of dawn raids on properties in the Warrington area.
Officers executed warrants at six properties in the Westy area.
More than 40 officers were involved in the operation and the warrants were obtained under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
A total of six men were arrested at the addresses for a variety of offences – these included suspicion of possession of cannabis, suspicion of cultivating cannabis, suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply and wanted on warrant and for breach of curfew.
Inspector Sarah Edgar, who led the operation, said: “We are committed to tackling the issue of drug use and supply within the local community.
“We will not tolerate this sort of behaviour and want to reassure members of the public that we will not hesitate to take positive action where necessary.”
Inspector Edgar said intelligence passed on by members of the public is vital in the fight against drugs.
She added: “Community intelligence is vital in the fight against drugs. By tackling the issue of drugs this has a knock-on effect on serious acquisitive crime.
“Those who get caught up in drugs are also often involved in other forms of crime to feed their habit. This can include stealing items from motor vehicles or properties in order to sell them to get money to fund their habit.
“We would urge members of the public to continue providing us with valuable information so we can continue to tackle the issue of drugs.”
Later police executed a further warrant in the Westy area and a 50-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis.
