New parking scheme for Orford Jubilee hub

A NEW system to improve car parking at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub will be introduced next month to help provide a better customer experience.

Customers using any of the services in the building will be able to park for free for a maximum of three hours.

The new system will replace the zoned parking system which has been in place since Orford Hub opened in 2012 which allows customers to park in either short stay or long stay zones.

A number plate recognition system will record vehicles entering and exiting the site. Those exceeding the time limit will receive a penalty notice through an external car park management company.

A warden will also patrol the site to ensure that vehicles are only parked in the designated areas and the correctly marked bays.

Di Clarke, LiveWire’s strategic lead who manages the central area, said: “The introduction of this new system is solely about improving the customers’ journey and ensuring that the only individuals parking on site are those who are using the facilities at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub.

“LiveWire will make no money from this new system and any penalties which are issued will be dealt with directly by the external car park management company.

“Currently, we have problems with people parking in unmarked bays and on grass verges and pavements which can make it difficult for buses and larger vehicles to access the front of the site. We hope that by introducing this new system, congestion will be reduced and access improved.

“If this system is successful, we will also implement it at the new Great Sankey Neighbourhood Hub when it opens next year.”

Delegates attending all day conferences or meetings at the hub will be exempt from the maximum time limit but will have to enter their registration number at reception when arriving on site.

All customers who use the site will be informed of the “go-live” date for the new system shortly.
