Bogus workmen flee empty-handed

TWO bogus workmen failed in a bid to steal money from a house this afternoon.
The attempted distraction burglary was at a house in the Booths Hill Road area of Lymm, near Warrington.
When they realised they were suspected they left the area empty handed.
They had called at the house asking to check the water pressure.
Both were aged about 20, of broad build and wearing pullovers. One had dark hair and the other mousy hair. Both spoke with a local accent.
Police warned residents to check the credentials of people calling at houses claiming to be from the water board.
A spokesman said: “There is no such thing as the water board so anyone saying this must be treated with suspicion.”
