A NEW commander has been appointed for the Army in the North West.
Brigadier Bill Aldridge is the new Commander 42 (North West) Brigade – which means he is the senior military figure 
for the region including Warrington and the rest of Cheshire.
His patch also includes Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire, Cumbria and the Isle of Man.
Brig Aldridge has been in the Army for 28 years and has operational experience in Northern Ireland, Cyprus, the Balkans and Afghanistan.
He was awarded the MBE in 1993, OBE in 2002 and travels to Buckingham Palace later this month to receive the CBE he was awarded in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
Brig Aldridge said: “I am absolutely delighted to be here in the North West. This region has a history of great support to the Army and I will do all I can to ensure this continues.
“I look forward to meeting the people throughout the region who play their part in maintaining this close relationship with soldiers and the wider military family.”
Brig Aldridge, 47, is married to Gill, and has a daughter Phoebe, 10. He will be based at Fulwood Barracks in Preston, home of the headquarters of 42 (North West) Brigade.
