PUPILS from a Warrington primary school have been helping to tackle dangerous parking near their school.
Helped by borough council school travel adviser Lesley Paterson and Penketh PCSO Cark Beck, three youngsters from St Joseph’s RC Primary
Took on the role of junior PCSOs with the aim of reducing the number of parking issues that the school currently faces.
They patrolled the school, speaking to the parents about the dangers of parking on the zig-zag lines directly outside the school.
PCSO Beck, who frequently patrols outside St Joseph’s, then spoke
to the children about general safe parking and its importance.
The scheme has previously been carried out at several other primary schools across Warrington and has so far been a great success.
Cllr Hans Mundry, the council’s lead member for transport, said: “The scheme raises awareness among the parents that they need to park safely and considerately and it’s very enjoyable for the children.”
