FORMER Orford Councillor Kate Hannon has been made an Honorary Alderman of Warrington.

Kate served the Orford area for a total of 19 years, before being controversially de-selected at the last elections.

She held the Portfolio Neighbourhood and Communities, was Chair of the Voluntary Sector Panel and a Board Member at Live Wire & Culture Warrington, as well as various other roles and duties over the years.

Kate received the honour at a recent meeting of Full Council.

In the past Aldermen carried political power, as an elder statesmen of local Government. Now the position is seen as a way of recognising many years of distinguished public service.
