New coroner is former Army lawyer

A NEW senior coroner has been appointed for Cheshire – including Warrington.
Alan Moore, aged 52, has been has been an assistant coroner in Cheshire since 2009 and has been the nominated deputy coroner since 2013.
He succeeds Nicholas Rheinberg who has been the senior Cheshire coroner for the last 18 years.
Mr Moore, married with two children, has been a lawyer for 27 years and was previously an officer in Army Legal Services for more than 20 years, leaving with the rank of colonel.
He served all over the world, including operational duty in Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Kosovo and Iraq. He also worked at the United Nations in Geneva and at the Ministry of Defence in London.
Mr Moore said: “I feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to lead the coroner’s service in Cheshire and to work with such dedicated and professional staff. I will strive to provide a modern and efficient service for the local community, putting bereaved families at the heart of it.”
He will take up the appointment in March on the retirement of Mr Rheinberg.
